Below are links to illustrations for the scripture texts designated for today (the Third Sunday of Advent) according to the Revised Common Lectionary for Year A. (On a Windows PC, you can save these images to your My Pictures directory and set the screensaver option to a slide show of pictures in that directory.)
Isaiah 35:1-10: "the desert shall rejoice and blossom; ... The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon." A modern view from Mount Carmel may be seen on the following web page: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=537807688&size=o .
Psalm 146: (Revised) My first suggestion turned out to be a copy-inhibited image. In this replacement image, a verse from this psalm is superimposed over a photograph of a beautiful sunset (as viewed from what looks like a yacht club!). Thanks to blogger Lana G. for this illustration. http://airmiles.wordpress.com/2007/08/26/psalm-1462/
James 5:7-10: "The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains." This text is illustrated by a "Photo of grapes on the vine". Scroll down about 40% on the following page; it's the 11th photo on the page.
