This is a catch-up entry. The Landscape of the Day is a scene from the far north of Russia in the oblast of Archangelsk. The Saints of the Day are Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Their feast date is June 29, which was Sunday, but gets transferred to the following week day. (This year the Roman Catholic Church conducted this observance on June 29, even through it was a Sunday.) A painting "Saint Peter and Saint Paul" by Carlo Cravelli is a good illustration, although there is no indication in the scriptures that the two saints ever met, as they shown to do here by Cravelli. Of course, you shouldn't alter the image package for distribution, but for what you display as wallpaper on your own computer, you can use simple image processing software, like the Windows Paint utility to select the portion of the original image that is the painting, and then reduce that to about 66% of its original dimensions.

The Saint of the Day is John the Baptist on this feast day which was placed on the calendar about 6 months before Christmas. To illustrate this event, I like an image from the Web Gallery of Art which can be accessed through the site's search engine http://www.wga.hu/index1.html using the following search terms: Author -- Tintoretto; Text --- Birth of John the Baptist. If you want to use this for wallpaper in a tiled format, I'd suggest reducing it to 25% of the original dimension and give it a border in the format of a collar, by pasting it onto a larger, color background and then saving it into a separate file, selecting a view with the background as a border.
