Saint of the Day --- Saint Andrew, the Apostle (transferred from Sunday, November 30) According to John 1:35-40. Andrew was one of two disciples of John the Bapist present on an occasion when Jesus was in view, John said of him, "Behold, the Lamb of God!". Andrew and his companion thus felt called to follow Jesus --- they were the apparently the first to do so. Later his brother, Simon Peter, also became a disciple.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in safety." (Revised Standard Version)

Having followed the same format for over a year, I am ready for a change. Although, I am still looking for wallpaper and screensavers that I can access at work and rotate on a daily basis, I plan to deemphasize the focus on graphics, in favor of a more data-oriented approach to each new day.

Observance of the Day: All Saints
“I believe in the communion of saints”, we say in the Nicene Creed. To me, that means the group of
individuals, living and dead, who have a genuine faith in Christ and who have manifested that faith in their deeds. As I understand it, the communion of saints is a community --- the body of Christ --- in which I myself, as a professing Christian, have a membership, however preliminary and humble my status may be and however unworthy I may feel. I am still trying to run the race. The saints we honor today are those who have finished the race, completed their initiation, and gone to glory, including those we have known about and those known to God alone.
Scripture of the Day: Hebrews 12:1
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us.”
