Data for Saturday, February 7

Saint of the Day --- Anselmo Polanco (1881 - 1939) O.S.A., --- Bishop of Teruel, Missionary

Scripture of the Day --- Psalm 23:1-6 -- [Selection based on the Daily Office Lectionary in the Book of Common Prayer] - The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies; thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (RSV)

Word of the Day ---armadas -- 1) large fleets of warships; 2) [by analogy] large groups of military vehicles in formation

Place of the Day --- Dator, Senegal -- 13°18'57"N, 15°41'12"W - near the border of The Gambia, a small village 64 miles NE of Ziguinchor, which is the largest city in the southern half of Senegal.
